Dr. Barry McCarron is the Managing Director of KORE Retrofit, one of Ireland’s leading one-stop provider of comprehensive retrofit solutions. Previously, he served as Head of Business and Industry Support at South West College. With a PhD specializing in indoor radon monitoring in passive house buildings, he also holds an honours degree in Architectural Technology and Management from Ulster University and an MSc in Sustainable Development from Queen’s University Belfast. As Chairperson of the Passive House Association of Ireland (PHAI), Barry is a recognized advocate for climate action, having participated in UN Climate Change Conferences (COP17, 26, and 27) and the International Youth Forum on Climate Finance. His research on building energy performance and indoor air quality has been presented at esteemed institutions worldwide, including the University of Toronto, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, and Penn State. Beyond academia, he serves on the Ministerial Advisory Group (MAG) for architecture in Northern Ireland and the RSUA Climate Change Committee. Barry has received multiple awards, including the Belfast Builder’s Association Outstanding Achievement Award and the Gibson Institute Scholarship, reflecting his dedication to sustainable development and industry leadership.
