Job Description

Under the general direction and supervision of the Associate Dean, the Southeast Nebraska Career Academy Partnership (SENCAP) Coordinator is embedded in assigned high schools to enhance dual enrollment and support the transition of high school students to SCC.

This role will develop relationships and partners with SCC divisions, 9-12 teachers, and SCC faculty and staff to orient students, assist registration, advise placement, instruct technology, and instructor recruitment, and answer questions that ultimately promote student learning and success. The SENCAP Coordinator represents SCC’s Dual Credit Partnerships programs at assigned high schools. The coordinator supports the organization of Dual Credit courses, SENCAP Faculty Liaisons, and Career Explorers. This is a full-time regular position.

Essential Functions

Program Management

  1. Meets with students to provide ongoing, individualized support designed to help students successfully transition to college, persist, and achieve their education and career goals for matriculation.
  2. Assists with orienting students to SCC online resources, including Self-Services, My Hub, CANVAS, Email, OneDrive, etc.
  3. Provides interpretation support of placement and career assessments to assist students in identifying career interests, goals, academic preparedness, skills, and talents.
  4. Provides students with specific and accurate information about academic support programs and services such as Career Services, Learning Support Services, Disability Support Services, First Year Experience, etc.
  5. Assists students individually and in group settings with the registration processes, including initial planning, adding, dropping, or withdrawing from classes at their assigned high schools.
  6. Collaborates and communicates with 9-12 faculty, counselors, and administration to increase dual enrollment and the number of students who transition/matriculate to SCC.
  7. Represents SCC at assigned school district-sponsored events.
  8. Participates in various departmental activities, including but not limited to staff meetings, orientations, committee meetings, professional development, and outreach activities.
  9. Consistently and dependably attends work, activities, and functions as scheduled or assigned.
  10. Work with the Administrative Director in coordination and planning of dual-credit courses delivered onsite, hybrid, or online in assigned regions. This may include identifying classroom space and ensuring appropriate technology is available to offer courses.
  11. Advise and assist students in transitioning from high school to college. Provide assistance with coursework and support student efforts to make certain the college course requirements and dual credit requirements are met.
  12. Will attend Career Days, Discover Days, New Student Welcome, and other events for dual credit students to support interest and matriculation.
  13. Support and attend job fairs for dual credit students in their assigned high schools.
  14. Provide instructor names to schools as needed for the Nebraska Department of Education.
  15. Be a point of contact for instructor recruitment for the dual credit program.

SCC Strategic Goals

  1. Track students for matriculation, attendance, and other support tools for matriculation, retention, and continuation in the program.
  2. Will generate success stories/pictures to support the marketing of the program.
  3. Assists students in applying for SCC scholarships.
  4. Maintains organized student follow-up to guide them to achieve college and academic success.
  5. Meets with students to provide ongoing, individualized support designed to help students successfully transition to college, persist, and achieve their education and career goals for matriculation.
  6. Provides accurate, timely, and meaningful reports to assess program outcomes.

Collaboration with other Departments

  1. Serves as liaison with SCC Partnerships to enhance approval and development of concurrent enrollment course sections; the registration of students; the billing and sponsoring of tuition; and the grading in Dual Credit classes.
  2. Serve as a liaison between SCC and K-12 personnel regarding student progress to ensure a successful transition into the SENCAP program. Monitor student progress and attendance, and communicate accordingly with K-12 schools. Knowledgeable about available student services and resources such as tutoring, testing, and advising through SCC.
  3. Serve as an SCC point of contact for students’ questions related to Dual Credit programming.
  4. Provides students with specific and accurate information about academic support programs and services such as Career Services, Learning Support Services, Disability Support Services, First Year Experience, etc.
  5. Assists with orienting students to SCC online resources, including Self-Services, My Hub, CANVAS, Email, One Drive, etc.
  6. Will attend Career Days, Discover Days, New Student Welcome, and other events for dual credit students to support interest and matriculation.
  7. Attend In-service each semester and campus-wide events.
  8. Works collaboratively with staff/faculty in SCC departments and services to understand processes, systems, current trends, programming, and services to resolve student issues.
  9. Partner with other areas in Extending Learning, Admissions, and other departments.
  10. Will share a weekly schedule with the department.
  11. Can assist Learning Centers/campuses with registration.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field, or an Associate’s Degree plus three years of experience in higher education.
  2. Two (2) years of full-time experience in advising, counseling, career services, admissions, teaching, administration, or another related field.
  3. A valid driver’s license and the ability to qualify for auto insurance coverage in order to drive College vehicles.
