Maintenance Planner
Contract role approximately 1 year.
$60,000 to $75,000
A Global leader in inhalation anesthetics and hospital generics has a long term contract opportunity for a Maintenance Planner in their state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Bethlehem, PA!
The role of the Maintenance Planner is to improve work force productivity and quality by anticipating and eliminating potential delays through planning, scheduling, and coordination of maintenance resources, parts, materials, and equipment access.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Employ and promote safe work practices in compliance with OSHA and company policy. Identify hazards and protect yourself, other employees, and the facility from hazards when installing, maintaining, or repairing systems.
- Follow all health and safety guidelines instituted by the maintenance department.
- Comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) as required by law and company policy.
Core Planning Responsibilities:
- Detailed Job planning
- Researching and Scoping of work
- Estimating of material and labor (internal and external) job requirements
- Developing task instructions
- Identifying tool and equipment requirements
- Developing job material lists
- PM and Standard Job Plan Development
- Creation of purchase requisitions
- Coordinating with Operations, Packaging, and Maintenance
- Planning and scheduling for shutdowns (major and minor)
- Identifies work requiring engineering design and reviews them with engineering.
Administrative Responsibilities:
- Maintains essential records and files
- Enters invoices for purchase requisitions
- Enters EAM data
- Responsible for Bills of Material (Parts lists) for all assets including spare parts
- Participation in budgetary preparation, tracking, and analysis
- Assists the Maintenance Manager and in periodic analysis of cost trends with recommendations for continual improvement
- Reviews all work order feedback and updates PMs and Standard Work Orders accordingly
- Developing and maintaining department matrix’s, Gantt charts, Critical Path Analysis, and Resource leveling
Storehouse Responsibilities
- Timely ordering, receiving, storing, inventorying, issuing of materials, supplies, tools, equipment, and parts, in stockroom
- Ensures layout of stockroom, warehouse, and other storage areas, considering turnover, size, weight, and related factors of items stored in main storeroom and designated satellite storage areas
- Supports the maintenance technicians in finding and ordering parts
- Ensure special and periodic inventories. Traces history of items to determine reasons for discrepancies between inventory and stock-control records and recommends remedial actions to resolve discrepancies
- Continuously improves the job estimate, planning and scheduling by receiving feedback from maintenance supervisor, maintenance lead, production supervisors, and engineers.
- Manage a backlog of work orders which require major or significant portion of the facility to be shutdown
- Operate forklift
- Other duties as required by Engineering Manager
Education / Experience
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Minimum of 5 years of work experience in Planner role
- Mechanical/electrical background is necessary
- Apprenticeship program or technical school background is desirable
- Have adequate craft knowledge and skill to accurately estimate labor hours, material requirement and skills needed to complete a job
- Must have a demonstrated ability to visualize and communicate the execution of work
- Should have good written and verbal communications skills and have demonstrated the ability to be approachable and tactful
- Good math skills
- Demonstrated organizational and planning skills
- Demonstrated ability to write and provide simple and accurate instructions
- Demonstrated ability to read standard blueprints, machine and process drawings
- Have the ability to sketch or redline existing drawings
- Knowledge and understanding of maintenance processes and proper use of the work order system, planning and scheduling and storeroom processes
- Ability to manage multiple priorities or projects simultaneously and keep them progressing to completion
- Ability to read mechanical drawings of process equipment
- Computer skills in EAM/CMMS, Word Processing, Excel, Email and MS Project
