Pave Talent is hiring on behalf of our client, a specialized manufacturer of premium hemp-derived CBD and cannabinoid products for health and wellness applications. They're seeking an experienced Formulation Scientist to lead the development and commercialization of gummy products infused with cannabinoids and other active ingredients.

Their products – including gummies, oil drops, topical creams, and vapes – are produced to the highest quality standards in cGMP certified and FDA registered facilities. With approximately 30 team members, they offer a dynamic, fast-paced environment where your expertise will directly impact product innovation and quality.

Key Responsibilities:

• 🔬 Lead the development of cannabinoid-infused gummy products from bench top to commercial scale
• Develop gummies with various textures, flavors, and active contents - includes replicating existing formulas from acquired brands and creating new formulations
• Configure and optimize new manufacturing equipment for gummy production
• Scale up formulas for commercialization while maintaining product integrity and consistency
• Ensure formulations comply with cGMP standards, FDA regulations, and state-specific cannabis requirements
• Test and evaluate gummy samples for texture, flavor, stability, and shelf-life targets
• 📋 Create and maintain thorough documentation including SOPs, manufacturing records, and product specifications
• Lead training efforts for production technicians on proper gummy manufacturing processes
• Collaborate with supply chain to source and evaluate ingredients that ensure functionality, taste, stability, and margin enhancement
• Apply scientific troubleshooting to solve production challenges and minimize defects

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Confectionery Science, or related scientific discipline
• Minimum 5 years experience formulating gummies, with at least 1 year in a cGMP facility
• Experience with pectin-based gummy supplements containing active ingredients (cannabinoids, vitamins, botanical extracts)
• 🧪 Demonstrated success in commercializing gummies from bench top to production scale
• Thorough understanding of ingredient functionality and formulation strategies for gummy products
• Hands-on experience with gummy manufacturing equipment including batch cookers, depositing systems, coating processes ("sanding or oiling"), and drying techniques
• Familiarity with dietary supplement label compliance and ingredient claims
• Experience developing relationships with ingredient vendors
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
