CMM Programmer

Pay Up To: $85,280 a year

Shift: 8 am till 5pm

Position Summary:

The CMM Programmer is responsible for developing and maintaining Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) programs for both new and existing products using Calypso, PC-DMIS, or other CMM software. This role supports first article inspections, capability analysis for PPAP programs, and various quality improvement initiatives including internal auditing and continuous improvement efforts. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of quality systems, SPC, control plans, and product introduction.

Key Responsibilities:

Programming & Inspection

  • Develop and write CMM programs from customer drawings and models using PC-DMIS, Zeiss Calypso, and Renishaw software.
  • Conduct and document First Article Inspections and capability studies to support PPAP processes.
  • Troubleshoot and refine CMM programs to ensure measurement accuracy.
  • Perform ballooning of engineering drawings per customer/internal requirements.
  • Use gauges, fixtures, comparators, and precision tools to perform dimensional inspections.
  • Interpret inspection results and provide feedback to quality and engineering teams.

Quality Systems & Process Improvement

  • Support internal audits, quality improvement, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain calibrated measurement equipment per industry standards (ANSI/ASME).
  • Follow and support Quality Management System (QMS) procedures and documentation requirements.
  • Participate in project kick-off teams to ensure quality is integrated early in product development.

Team & Training

  • Assist in training and mentoring junior inspection and programming staff.
  • Promote knowledge sharing and foster a collaborative team environment.

Workplace Standards

  • Ensure safe operation of measurement equipment and tools.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Required Skills & Experience

  • Proficient in CMM programming using PC-DMIS; Zeiss Calypso is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings.
  • Experience conducting comparator checks or Faro Arm inspections is preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Familiarity with Minitab or other statistical software.
  • Understanding of SPC, capability studies, and PPAP processes.
  • Ability to analyze inspection results and apply corrective actions.
  • Experience with CAD software such as SolidWorks is preferred.
