Medical Clinical Specialist for

Emergency Preparedness/Virology

Are you a highly skilled Clinical Specialist with expertise in emergency preparedness and virology ? A prominent public health organization is seeking a dedicated professional to join their dynamic team. This is a good opportunity to contribute to vital public health initiatives and outbreak investigations.

This is a 6-month temporary position with a possibility of extension, offering a competitive pay rate of $30.46/hour . You will work on site at the customer’s lab in Decatur.

About the Role

In this role, you'll be instrumental in detecting, identifying, and reporting communicable diseases. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Performing a wide range of highly technical laboratory tests using molecular technologies , focusing on biological agents in clinical and environmental samples.
  • Supporting COVID-19 pandemic response , emergency response, outbreak investigations, and routine surveillance programs.
  • Ensuring strict compliance with local, state, and federal regulatory standards like CLIA and OSHA.
  • Executing and documenting comprehensive quality control and quality assurance procedures.
  • Troubleshooting instrumentation and testing issues.
  • Assisting in the training of new staff.
  • Adhering to strict biosafety and chemical hygiene plans.

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor's degree in a related science field with at least two years of clinical laboratory experience, OR a Master's degree in a relevant science field with one year of clinical laboratory experience.
  • Certification as a technologist (MT/MLS ASCP or equivalent) , or eligibility for certification within 18 months of beginning assignment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of FDA-cleared and LDT methods for infectious disease agent detection.
  • Proficiency with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong understanding of clinical diagnostic laboratory regulatory requirements and experience with quality assurance programs.

Work Schedule

Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM .
