Founded in 1901, Brooklyn Law School is a distinguished, independent law school located in Downtown Brooklyn, New York. The Law School is searching for a Assistant Director of Externship Programs to join our team. The Law School’s size, vibrant employee and student population, and commitment to training the next generation of lawyers and promoting social justice, will offer a candidate the opportunity to develop and diversify practical skills and participate firsthand in operating a successful educational institution.
Reporting to the Faculty Director of Externship Programs, the Assistant Director of Externship Programs would assist externship faculty in administering the Law School’s Externship Programs, through which approximately 400 students each year earn academic credit by working in courts, government agencies, not-for-profit organizations, law firms, and in-house law departments, and by teaching a companion seminar. This position will focus on building relationships with field placement and supervisors, evaluating externship quality and program learning outcomes, counseling students, and overseeing documentation and compliance with accreditation standards. This position works closely with the Clinical Faculty, the Career Development Center, and the Public Service Law Center.
